Art and Soul Retreats
Our Art and Soul Retreats are designed to be a totally immersive experience; a combination of art, claywork and a gentle introduction into nature's guides. Through interactions with the natural world, supported by discussions about Moonology, planetary alignments and readings from Oracle cards we will discover the interconnectedness of everything and infuse our claywork with a deeply personal and heartfelt resonance. The aim is to allow nature's guides to help us open our intuition and create work that both stimulates and heals.
By the end of the week you will have an art journal bursting with the week's explorations, a collection of inspired ceramic pieces and a newly charged heart full of clarity and inspiration, teamed with supportive new friends and connections.
Where?
Art and Soul Retreats are fully residential in the beautiful Maison des Fréres Leglise, nestled deep in the rolling green hills of the Gers, France.
This classic French Maison Maitre is lovingly restored and retains all its beautiful charm. Each room is full of luxurious style whilst retaining its homely and warm atmosphere. The house is surrounded by shady, landscaped gardens that provide different seating areas and beautiful planting.
The bastide village of Mielan is easily accesible by public transport and is serviced with a bakery, grocery shop, pharmacy and bank, as well as a restaurant and bar.

What?
Imagine a morning starting with a gentle meditation and setting intentions for the day, followed by breakfast in the beautiful garden. This is how every morning at Art and Soul Retreats will start.
A woodland walk, sketching in the garden, a visit to the local market or just a simple Oracle card reading will help set the themes and provide us with material for the creative explorations of the day, whether it be Cyanotype, Gelli printing, collaging and of course, clay work.
A light simple buffet-style lunch can be eaten around the table or taken to a quiet corner of the garden and the afternoon will unfold in further creative explorations, building and deepening our connection with both the themes and materials.
The evening will be focused around a delicious meal. Local produce will be used in our purely vegetarian menus and teamed with local wines (vegan and allergens can be catered for) Evening activities will also be provided for those that wish; yoga, reiki, Moonology or you are welcome to continue your creative explorations in the studio space.

Why?
The Gers is the most beautiful department, full of rolling hills, stands of oaks and deep deciduous forests all with a backdrop of the magnificent Pyrenees. Every day during the retreat we will open our hearts to the beauty of nature and listen to her stories.
Using the nature guides that will present themselves to us throughout the week, we will explore many different exporative techniques that will inform our clay work, to create a body of work that represents our experiences and emotions. You will go home with an art journal full of inspiration as well as the fired ceramic pieces (which will follow you at a later date)
The aim of the week is to immerse ourselves in open play, exploring textures, mark making and motifs that will in turn reflect our true desires. For some this will help unblock creativity and for others it may help make sense of life's challenges. Through the extra support of yoga, reiki, astrology and gentle midfulness this retreat will be a truly magical and moving experience.
